InHerit is a premier annual craft and design event held in Delhi. Laid out across the verdant lawns of the newly renovated Sunder Nursery Heritage Park, the two-day festival presents the timeless classic and the edgy contemporary on the same platform. Meticulously curated to provide a unique shopping experience, InHerit brings together the country’s best master craftsmen, designers and retailers.
This beautiful UNESCO world Heritage site in Dehi with its sprawling lawns covers over 90 acres. This site, now known as Sunder Nursery was originally called Azim Bagh in the 16th century, built by the Mughals.
The two day festival will showcase India's craft and design heritage on the grounds of Sunder Nursery.
Under one roof, fashion, accessories, textiles, precious and fashion jewellery, home décor, furniture, arts and crafts, beauty supplies and travel experiences are up for sale. Add delicious food and sparkling cultural performances to this heady melange and you have a joyous carnival, celebrating heritage and design, that is a riot of fun with great retail therapy.
InHerit as the word suggests is taking your legacy and then ingeniously blending it with other forward-thinking nuances. That is what we will attempt to do in our showcase through the designers’ presentation. We are happy to be part of this B2C unique shopping experience that hopes to amalgamate fashion, craft and heritage
InHerit aims to break down stereotypical boundaries that exist between craft and design. It offers one platform – for master craftsmen, weavers, fashion designers, designers of jewellery, home accessories and lifestyle products – to interact and exchange ideas, with the vision of creating collaborations that are market and consumer oriented, thereby sustaining and perpetuating our traditional arts.
It all began with the success of ‘Treasures of Rajasthan’, Seasons I and 2, specially curated for the Maharajah Sawai Mansingh Museum Trust, headed by Diya Kumari of Jaipur ,for the promotion of the craft heritage of Rajasthan, Thereafter, Vandana (Haksar) and I decided to explore the rich craft diversity of India and in our venture, ‘Heritage 365’ we expanded our canvas to the craft rich states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. We soon realised that for traditional arts and crafts to be relevant in the contemporary world, they needed to be given a design edge & we approached the Fashion Design Council of India and Teamwork Arts for on-ground production, both of whom readily agreed to come on board and hence was launched InHerit.
The diversity and skill of handcrafting is part of India’s tangible cultural heritage. InHerit is an initiative to bring this to the forefront, juxtaposing it with contemporary fashion and design sensibilities. The festival will bring together artisans, designers, exhibitors and consumers in one space unfolding the rarest and timeless treasures of Indian craft
I am pleased to announce that the Embassy will represent the Czech Republic as a Partner Country of InHerit 2019 with the aim of portraying the Czech Republic as a right destination for tourism with rich culture and many heritage sites and as a right spot for trade, business and study. All that would not be possible without taste of typical Czech cuisine and traditional Czech products so come and visit us at Sunder Nursery Heritage Park on 7th & 8th December.
